Nocterra closed its Powell taproom Sunday evening. Delaware Source: both rooms announced closed Sunday; a for-lease sign was on 41 Depot by Monday morning. Co-owner Bryan Duncan, in an email to employees printed by 614Now, called it a last shift and said both locations are “on hiatus” starting Monday 8/31. The Source says closed. Building owner Dan McClurg told the Source: “I never knew they were closing. I found out yesterday just like everyone else did.” Ill Mannered, 38 Grace, is still open.
Saturday the Buckeyes open at 12:30 against Ball State. If this helps, send it to one neighbor.

Stogies’ building at 55 E. Olentangy is slated for demolition for downtown parking. Delaware Source, Aug. 31: Stogies is moving to 94 W. Olentangy. PDC approved a $25,000 façade grant toward demolition and parking signage. City Manager Andy White, quoted there: the city anticipates about 60 spaces if a parking arrangement goes through; hopeful by fall. Planning and zoning staff have the final say on demolition.
Zoning rewrite expected Friday, Sept. 4. City, Aug. 6. Expected.

Wednesday snapped a three-day losing streak. The more interesting move is in bonds.
U.S. Treasury yields have been climbing all year. The 10-year, which tends to pull mortgage rates, was 4.20% in January and 4.78% Wednesday, down a tick from 4.79% Tuesday (Associated Press). The 2-year, which tracks Fed-rate bets, was 3.50% in January and 4.37% Wednesday. When yields rise, bond prices fall. That sell-off is the market saying borrowing costs are headed higher. AP: Wall Street puts a 64% chance on a Fed hike at the September meeting (CME FedWatch). Baird’s Michael Antonelli: yields spiked over the past week and made stocks nervous; Wednesday there was no real move in yields.
Under the hood it was not a straight-up day. Select Sector SPDRs, Yahoo Finance, Wednesday: materials +1.7%, communication services +1.4%, financials +0.8%. Real estate −0.7%. The tech ETF finished about flat (−0.02%) even as Dell jumped 15.8% and Nvidia 3.2% — Palo Alto Networks fell 9.3% after a beat.
Metals were bid. Gold futures +2.0% to $4,433; silver +2.1% to $65.96. Bitcoin −0.5% near $77,000; ether −1.6% (Yahoo Finance, Wednesday evening ET).
Rocky start to September after a mostly positive August. Friday is the August jobs report. U.S. markets are closed Monday for Labor Day.

Powell City Council on Tuesday, Sept. 1, unanimously extended the dispensary moratorium through Dec. 31, 2027, or until council amends the zoning code to set rules, whichever comes first. Delaware Source, Sept. 1. That date is not firm if the zoning amendment comes first. We stop there.
